Brittany Higgins’ wedding will feature a uniquely South Australian detail — a gown by none other than Paolo Sebastian, the local design house beloved by the stars.
Ms Higgins will tie the knot with fiance David Sharaz today, after the pair were engaged in Byron Bay on New Year’s Eve 2022.
As reported by news.com.au, the beaming bride was spotted leaving her hotel with Mr Sharaz, a Paolo Sebastian garment bag in tow.
The label, founded by Adelaide’s couture king Paul Vasileff, is a favourite among celebrities, once featuring at fashion’s night of night’s, the Met Gala, worn by Canadian television present Keltie Knights in 2018.
A-listers Katy Perry, Rebel Wilson, Kris Jenner and Poppy Delevingne are among the label’s fans, with Adelaide-born TV star Carrie Bickmore also donning his stunning designs in the past.
A wedding gown with a Paolo Sebastian tag will set you back around $15-30k.
Earlier this year, Paul Vasileff launched a new line inspired by his Nonna Domenica.
Describing Allora Domenica as “one of my most personal endeavours yet”, Vasileff said the 16-piece collection celebrated her turning 95 on March 9.
“Domenica dreamt of being a teacher, and in the end, she was my very first,” he told The Advertiser, adding she taught him to sew when he was just three years old.
“Not only did she encourage me to create, play, and learn, but there was an unspoken language in our family to always pursue our dreams.”
Allora Domenica was showcased at an invitation only event at Bird in Hand Winery on February 22.
Ms Higgins and Mr Sharaz will exchange vows at The Valley Estate, in the hinterland of the Currumbin Valley, which is described on its website as the ‘epitome of luxury’.
The pair first met in 2020, when Mr Sharaz was working as a producer for Peter Stefanovic’s Sky News breakfast program.
But Mr Sharaz had noticed Ms Higgins long before, having contacted her to request Ms Higgins’ then-boss Michaelia Cash to come on the program.
Mr Sharaz once described to Channel 10’s Lisa Wilkinson watching the “beautiful” Ms Higgins walk through the door of a Parliament House television studio.
They started dating in May 2020, and were living together by the end of the year.
Mr Sharaz popped the question atop the Byron Bay lighthouse as 2022 came to a close, later sharing on Instagram: “I didn’t want to enter another year without you knowing that I want to spend all my years with you … I’m the luckiest guy in the world.”
A nod to the iconic Notting Hill line, Mr Sharaz, who was born in north Wales, wrote: “I’m just a guy, kneeling in front of a girl, asking her to marry him.”
At the end of 2023, after shouldering intense media scrutiny, the couple moved to France, returning this year for Bruce Lehrmann’s defamation trial.
Former Liberal staffer Mr Lehrmann sued Network 10 and journalist Lisa Wilkinson over the airing of allegations by Brittany Higgins that she was raped in Parliament House in 2019.
In a landmark ruling in April, Justice Michael Lee found, on the balance of probabilities, Lehrmann had assaulted Ms Higgins, thus throwing out the defamation case.
This week, Lehrmann lodged a notice of appeal against the ruling with the Federal Court.
