Two people were assaulted in a violent home invasion after suspects told the victims they were police before forcing their way into a Mile End home.
The incident happened at a home on Cuming St about 2.50am Monday where two occupants were attacked by a man and a woman wearing a balaclava, while one held a baseball bat.
Tash, 35, suffered facial injuries but did not go to hospital, while Braydn Smith, 20, was also injured but declined medical treatment.
Mr Smith said the suspects said they were police officers when they approached the home.
“I was just confused, then she (a suspect) opened it (the door) and they pretty much barged in,” he told 7 News.
Tash said she chased the suspects away from her home.
“I ran to the end here, but then my dog started chasing them and I didn’t want my dog to get hurt … so I ran back,” she said.
Police searched the area with patrol dog Judge but failed to locate the suspects.
While the investigation is in its early stages, police say the incident was not random.
Anyone who saw suspicious activity on Cuming St at Mile End should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
In another violent incident last week, a police officer was stabbed in the hand with a screwdriver while police dog Rusty went into defence mode in Findon.
While conducting foot patrols on Arnold Close about 2am last Thursday, a man allegedly attacked the police officer while Rusty retaliated and bit the man multiple times.
