Adelaide will cop another weekend of rain as more is predicted to lash the city and a code blue is activated for rough sleepers.
The last supermoon for the year may be visible in Adelaide on Friday morning, depending on cloud cover and rain.
The “sturgeon moon” was visible on Thursday evening, but will peak on Friday at 11.35am and is predicted to rise within 90 per cent of its closest orbit to earth.
The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast up to 10mm of rain for Friday and more coming over the weekend.
Senior forecaster Tom Boeck said a low-pressure system moved across Kangaroo Island on Thursday evening bringing the wild conditions.
“As that low moves to the south there will be showers off and on, for much of the agricultural area including Adelaide,” Mr Boeck said.
24-hour rainfall totals to 9am over #Adelaide area show 7-10mm over the plains and mostly 10-15mm about the hills. Wettest was Aldgate with 20mm. After a sunny morning, showers are expected to re-develop during the afternoon. Keep an eye on the radar at https://t.co/y8oLetiH3opic.twitter.com/L7wY1FDv8E

“There’s still going to be showers in Adelaide for Saturday and Sunday, there won’t be lots left by the time we get to Sunday, so … tending to ease as the weekend goes on.”
From 9am Thursday until 6am Friday, the hills regions saw the highest rainfall totals including Sutton Creek at 22mm and Ashton at 19mm.
The code blue was activated on Thursday and will continue until 9am Sunday.
Anyone sleeping rough can seek additional assistances as weather conditions worsen including at the Hutt St Centre and Baptist Care.
“Once those showers develop on Thursday they’re associated with a low-pressure system moving across the south of the state and will stay showery for a couple of days, and there will be showers on Friday with a chance of a thunderstorm,” senior forecaster Simon Timcke said on Wednesday.
Temperatures will be cool for the rest of the week as the rain hits, with Adelaide struggling up to 15C on Friday, which could also see a thunderstorm associated with the wet conditions.
It comes as authorities issued a fog warning to motorists earlier this week.
The road weather alert was issued early Monday, which said there will be reduced visibility and potentially dangerous driving conditions in Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills.
A code blue was activated from Wednesday last week while the wild weather system moved through, providing reprieve for people sleeping rough.
