A man has been arrested and charged after the getaway car used in a terrifying shooting at Wayville was set alight.
Police and fire crews responded to reports of a car fire in Selby Street at Kurralta Park about 10am on Monday.
A purple Honda Civic sedan was engulfed in flames when crews arrived and was completely destroyed by the blaze.
The car was “seen leaving the scene of the shooting”, Detective Chief Inspector Peter Duance told media on Monday.
After an investigation, police went to a Kurralta Park address where they arrested a 51-year-old Fulham Gardens man.
Police said the man had been charged with arson of the motor vehicle.
A man was captured on CCTV pouring something over the car before it was set on fire.
The shots were fired at the owner and director of Better Care Australia and a man during peak-hour on Monday morning, in the underground carpark of the office building on Greenhill Rd.
“It’s since been confirmed that the car fire is in fact linked to the shot-firing incident at Wayville,” Chief Inspector Duance told media.
“A purple-coloured Honda Civic sedan was engulfed with flames when crews arrived and was completely destroyed in the blaze.
“That was the vehicle seen leaving the scene of the shooting. We’re aware of one (suspect) at this time.”
The two victims, who are not accused of any wrongdoing, were seen co-operating with the investigation for more than nine hours before emerging holding hands.
Chief Inspector Duance said the shooting was not random, but 7NEWS has reported the victims did not know the shooter.
“Rest assured, it was targeted, it wasn’t a random-type incident. I want to assure the public that there’s no community safety issues … it was clearly targeted,” he said.
