Adelaide Casino is outlining plans to recruit 700 people as it unveils four restaurants and two bars as part of a $330 million expansion opening later this year.

Hospitality, food, beverage and gaming roles are among those on offer as the state’s biggest employer in the sector gears up for the long-awaited Riverbank redevelopment’s operation.

The new venues are headlined by the Sol Bar and Restaurant, atop the Casino expansion and the 120-room Eos by SkyCity luxury hotel, which is taking bookings from December 1.

Named for the Latin word for sun, Sol is touted as offering modern Australian cuisine and unrivalled views, including of the River Torrens and Adelaide Oval.

Premier Steven Marshall, also the Tourism Minister, said the Casino expansion was poised to be a major drawcard for the state.

“We are really looking forward to the opening of these new restaurants and hotel because it will give more reasons for people to visit Adelaide and our regions, to experience our world-class food, wine and hospitality,” he said.

The other venues include: Chinese restaurant Huami, featuring a 1200-bottle wine wall; ITL Italian restaurant, adjoining Festival Plaza; Lucky Noodle, offering South East Asian food on the expansion’s main floor; and Westward, pitched at Oval patrons and on the SkyCity’s western edge.

SkyCity Adelaide general manager David Christian said: “We’re thrilled to play a part in shining a light on the South Australian tourism industry, as well as attracting interstate and international visitors back to our state, when the time is right.

“This investment by SkyCity is not only helping to transform our entertainment and tourism industry, but also offering the hospitality industry some incredible recruitment opportunities, with the SkyCity workforce set to expand by approximately 700 employees by the middle of next year.”

Hospitality roles to be filled include food and beverage attendants, bar attendants (including cocktail creation), chefs of all levels; from apprentice to head chef, and an executive pastry chef.

Other roles include room attendants, concierge, porters, guest service agents and guest relations managers for the 12-storey hotel.

SkyCity’s North Tce training facility also is recruiting for food and beverage roles, along with gaming and training table games dealers.

The expansion’s opening date has not been pinpointed but set for “late 2020”.

An upgrade of the Adelaide Railway Station heritage building’s portion occupied by the Casino includes The District at SkyCity, a microbrewery in partnership with Pirate Life opening in October. The Guardsman Bar and Restaurant, a restoration of the former Overland Dining Hall, opened in January.

The Casino reopened in June, more than three months after it was forced to shut operations and stand down almost 1100 employees because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Bookings for the luxury hotel opened in April, when features were unveiled including an on-call “mixologist” providing an in-room cocktail service and a team of chefs who can whip up high-end meals on request
