An on-call “mixologist” providing an in-room cocktail service and a team of chefs who can whip up high-end meals on request will be features of the new Eos by SkyCity hotel, which is scheduled to open in Adelaide late this year.

SkyCity will start taking bookings for the new hotel today, with Eos by SkyCity general manager Jodi Brown saying the hotel would deliver a “new realm of luxury” for Adelaide.

While SkyCity’s Adelaide Casino has been forced to close due to coronavirus, the construction of the new $330 million casino expansion, including the 12-storey hotel, has forged ahead.

Work on the prominent curved golden facade which looks out over the River Torrens is complete and attention is now turning to the interior fit-outs.

Ms Brown said the name “Eos” had even more significance following an incredibly challenging period for hotel, hospitality and tourism operators.

“Named for the Greek goddess of dawn, Eos is an embodiment of hope and optimism. We are incredibly optimistic that the tourism industry will recover, and we are looking forward to Eos by SkyCity playing an important role in bringing visitors back to South Australia when the time is right,’’ she said.

In addition to the 120-room luxury hotel, there will also be new restaurants and bars, conference and event facilities, a spa and wellness centre and expanded gaming experiences.

As well as the in-room cocktail service, there will also be in-room styling, post-flight treatments and personal training offered.

Ms Brown said SkyCity was inviting guests to “live extraordinary’’.

“While luxurious, Eos by SkyCity will also create a welcoming environment where guests immediately feel at home,” said Ms Brown.

“From the time they walk through the door, our guests will be welcomed to a new realm of luxury, where a love for the unexpected meets deep local knowledge. Where subtle gestures underpin indulgent experiences.”

SkyCity Adelaide general manager, David Christian said the company believed South Australia was well placed to be at the forefront of the recovery in the tourism sector.

“We believe it’s highly likely that there will be some interstate travel by December, and if not, definitely within the local market,’’ he said.

Mr Christian said it was not anticipated the hotel would hit peak occupancy in the first six months but the ambition was to get it open and running and providing a new level of luxury for the Adelaide market.

“This will be a step up, there’s no question about it. It’s going to be superb,’’ he said.

“We hope that it will become one of the standout, iconic hotels in Australia.’’

Mr Christian said the company was grateful that construction was able to continue both on the expansion and hotel site, and within the existing casino.

“We are looking forward to working with the wider tourism industry to shine a light on South Australia as a destination and play our part in attracting visitors back to our state when the tourism industry begins to recover,” he said.
