Fire has torn through two homes north of the city, causing hundreds of thousands worth of damage.
Around 6.50pm on Monday, a neighbour reported a fire on Sutherland Rd at Ferryden Park.
Upon arrival, emergency services discovered discolouration to the garage of a two-storey duplex home.
The residents were not home and occupants in the surrounding duplex properties evacuated safely.
MFS crews forced entry into the property and located the blaze in the garage.
An MFS spokesperson said the fire caused damage to a shed and rooms inside the home. Smoke damage was also reported.
Fire Cause Investigators attended the scene and determined the blaze was accidental and caused by the ignition of lithium batteries.
The damage bill is estimated between $150-200k.
Meanwhile, a house fire at Golden Grove on Monday morning has left homeowners devastated.
Emergency services were called the property to reports of a fire about 10.30am.
Neighbours captured footage of the thick black smoke from the fire, billowing into the air.
MFS spokesperson Ryan Poole said the family of three living in the home were lucky to escape the fire without injury.
Concerned neighbours rushed to the property to help the homeowners before emergency fire crew services arrived.
“If there were any occupants in there at the time, then they would in a lot worst position than they are now,” Mr Poole said.
“Dad helped them get the car out. He rushed over there and (had) a look around,” one neighbour told 7News.
Another neighbour said she was saddened by the ordeal.
“I feel very sad about it because they’re very nice people,” she told 7News.
The fire was allegedly sparked from an electrical fault which started in the kitchen, which caused about $300k worth of damage.
