Four major train lines to have extra services within weeks

MANY train passengers will wait no longer than 30 minutes for a ride after the State Government affirmed an election promise for more services.

More Adelaide train services

NEW train timetables will provide services every 30 minutes on the Belair, Gawler, Outer Harbor and Seaford lines — but Tonsley and Grange line passengers will miss out on the $22 million funding injection over four years.

The commitment by Transport Minister Stephan Knoll marks another election promise fulfilled by the incoming Liberal Government within a month of the March State Election.

“Passengers using these train lines will benefit from “more frequent services with a maximum wait of only 30 minutes from morning peak to last service every weekday and all day on weekends,’’ Mr Knoll said.

The changes will take place from April 22.

The commitment had also been made by the previous government, part of a matching of some policies by the Liberal Party during the election.

For precise details of the timetabling Mr Knoll said passengers should use the Transport Department’s MetroMate app and Adelaide Metro website.

“People will know when they hit a train station the maximum wait time will be reduced and in many cases from a wait of one hour previously,” Mr Knoll said.
