An elderly man has been struck by a falling branch while attending a funeral at one of the city’s biggest cemeteries.
At 11.30am on Monday morning, ambulance crews were sent to Cheltenham Cemetery on Port Rd after part of a gum tree snapped and fell on the man’s head.
7 NEWS Adelaide reported that the 73-year-old lost consciousness and was bleeding when he was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital.
SA Health said he is now in a stable condition.
Temperatures climbed to 31 degrees today in Adelaide, and with the weather heating up, gum trees are likely to snap more easily.
On Monday February 5, 22-year-old international student Alifia Soeryo was killed by an eight-ton gum tree which toppled over in the Adelaide parklands.
