An out-of-control rubbish truck has ploughed into a building on The Parade at Norwood, damaging a popular fashion house.
The truck crashed along The Parade at Beulah Park about 7.45am, damaging the front of popular fashion boutique couture+love+madness.
One westbound lane of The Parade was closed due to the crash for an hour however it has since been reopened.
The driver of the truck, a 25-year-old Aldinga Beach man, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are investigating whether the man suffered a medical episode.
Couture+love+madness is one of South Australia’s most popular fashion houses.
Head designer Cristina Tridente last year created a custom cape for British superstar Sam Smith ahead of their Australian tour after a chance encounter in a McDonald’s carpark.
Ms Tridente said there was no damage to the store’s stock.
“We heard it was a medical episode so just wishing him all the best for a speedy recovery,” she said.
“Windows can be replaced.
“We’re just lucky no-one was here at work yet, it was quite early.
“There is a little bit of damage inside to the store.
“It is a really beautiful heritage-listed building as well, so we’re going to have to make sure it is repaired beautifully to match the rest of it.
“It’s good we can still operate, clients will just have to come around the back.”
