A burst water main on South Rd at Black Forest, near the tram overpass, that caused traffic chaos for Friday commuters has been fully repaired.
SA Water crews were working in the area to restore a temporary water supply service after the burst early on Friday morning.
In a statement to The Advertiser, a spokesperson for SA Water said the “crews have successfully completed (the) repairs.”
“The incident was reported at around 4:20am this morning, with crews working throughout the day to repair the pipe,” the spokesperson said.
“All lanes on South Road have reopened with speed restrictions for the afternoon commute, with final road restoration set to be completed later this evening.”
“We thank everyone for their patience while we completed pipe repairs as quickly and safely as possible.”
Earlier, motorists were warned of bumper-to-bumper southbound traffic, with commuters heading northbound towards the city expected to experience a slightly smoother ride.
Roadworks on several side streets were also affecting the commute.
It comes after a burst water main at the intersection of Grand Junction Rd and Main North Rd, Gepps Cross, caused traffic mayhem on Thursday afternoon.
