Bureau of Metrology forecasts showers for Tuesday, after night of heavy rainfall

After heavy rainfall overnight, commuters has woken up to more wet weather with showers continuing throughout the day. See how much rain fell in your area.

Streaks of lighting across Adelaide’s night sky began a night of heavy rainfall, with showers expected to remain through Tuesday.

There were high levels of overnight rainfall across many parts of the state and it’s forecast to continue throughout the day before showers ease later in the week.

In Adelaide and Mount Lofty, the highest overnight rainfall was recorded in Edinburgh with 18.8mm, while Kuitpo saw 15.2mm of rainfall.

Adelaide Airport recorded 14.4mm, closely followed by 14.0mm at Strathalbyn, 13.4mm at Hindmarsh Island and 13.0mm at Mount Lofty.

In Adelaide city, there was 10.4mm of rainfall, while further out north, Parafield locals experienced 10.6mm of rainfall overnight.

Elsewhere in the state, Murraylands and Riverland region recorded the highest rainfall in the state with 12.6mm at Pallamana, while Lameroo saw 6.0mm of overnight rainfall.

The York Peninsula and Kangaroo Island regions was also doused with rain, with Kingscote reaching the 9.2mm mark, Parndana recording 7.8mm and Cape Borda recording 6.8mm.

In the Upper South East and Lower South East, Keith West locals saw the highest overnight rainfall of 9.8mm, while Mount Gambier locals experienced 6.8mm – only 0.4mm more than Cape Jaffa.

Flinders North and Mid North regions were slight drier, with Roseworthy recording the highest rainfall of 6.6mm, while Clare recorded 5.6mm of rainfall.

West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula and Eastern Eyre Peninsula and the North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral regions were spared from the heavy overnight rainfall, with the highest rainfall of 5mm recorded at Neptune Island.

On Tuesday, the Bureau has forecasted the overnight rainfall to continue across metropolitan Adelaide.

Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 15C in Adelaide, Elizabeth, Glenelg and Noarlunga and winds south-westerly 15 to 25km/h.

Mount Barker will be slightly cooler with maximum temperatures reaching 13C, and south-westerly winds of 20 to 30km/h becoming light in the evening.
