Police have arrested a man in connection to a frenzied stabbing attack in Adelaide’s northeast which left a mother fighting for life.
Mother-of-one Jade Ross, 35, was repeatedly stabbed outside Ingle Farm Shopping Centre and was found lying in a pool of blood at about 10.30pm on Thursday.
Witnesses at a nearby bus stop on Montague Rd, flagged down a passing police patrol to help the victim.
Detectives from Eastern District CIB arrested a 51-year-old Elizabeth Downs man just after 8pm Friday evening and charged him with attempted murder.
He has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
The attack is being treated by police as a domestic dispute, with the charged man “well-known” to his victim.
Ms Ross, who friends described as a doting mother, suffered multiple lacerations to parts of her body.
She was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital and underwent emergency surgery.
She was in a critical but stable condition in intensive care on Friday.
Friends reacted with shock at the terrifying assault.
Detectives spent several hours in the area, taking statements from witnesses.
But they urged local residents with CCTV and passing motorists with dashcam footage around 10.30pm on Thursday, or anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
It follows a plea from the victim of a one-punch attack at Pooraka last month that left 32-year-old Adam Whetstone in hospital.
No one has been charged over the assault that happened in the bathroom of the Bridgeway Hotel on April 29.
