A driver narrowly missed being struck by a freight train when his vehicle became stuck on a train crossing in the Adelaide Hills.
The man was attempting to do a U-turn at the train crossing on Jeffery St at Nairne about 9pm Thursday when the car became stuck.
The driver quickly abandoned the vehicle before an oncoming freight train crashed into the car.
The vehicle was dragged more than 100 metres by the train from the point of impact.
Mt Barker police, paramedics, fire crews and the State Emergency Service rushed to the scene and the train line was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
Investigations are ongoing.
It follows a narrow escape for workers at a Pooraka bird shop after a car slammed through the store on Thursday.
Two workers, birds and the occupants of the car walked away with minor injuries.
