Adelaide’s newest boutique hotel, La Loft, has opened at Tonsley Innovation District offering professionals, tourists and students the perfect green energy accommodation.
The six-storey hotel is the first commercial property in South Australia to be connected to the blended hydrogen gas network based at Tonsley’s Hydrogen Park SA.
The hotel, constructed by Techne Build, will also run off the CleanPeak Energy network which gets its power from Tonsley’s on-site solar panels.
The 4 and a half star hotel has 73 studio suites and 15 one-bedroom apartments to account for short and longer stays.
“Providing visiting professionals and tertiary students with a central place to stay will help attract top talent to our state and fills a key gap in the accommodation market around Tonsley,” minister for housing and urban development Nick Champion said.
Tonsley businesses were “thrilled” by the hotel’s opening, Renewal SA Tonsley project director Vince Rigter said.
“It means their clients will only have a two-minute walk to the research labs and collaboration spaces on site,” he said.
La Loft’s general manager Simon O’Callaghan said on-site function spaces are “modular and fully equipped” for any “high-level meeting or event”.
The hotel will also provide an accommodation option for the 8,500 Flinders University and TAFE SA students which frequent the district’s campuses.
Located on the corner of Tonsley Boulevard and MAB circuit, the hotel is complete with a dining area, ground floor bar and views of the sea and city.
The hotel expects to employ around 40 staff at full capacity.
