James Short has been charged with aggravated assault, theft and property damage in relation to an alleged domestic violence incident at the couple’s Globe Derby home in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police have also issued Mr Short, 39, with an interim intervention order.
A police spokesperson said the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Mr Short was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on August 6.
“Police encourage anyone experiencing domestic violence to contact them immediately for assistance,” a police spokesperson said.
Mr Short, who has trained horses in both South Australia and Queensland, has worked at Lindsay Park, in the Barossa, and he was a foreman for David Payne at Rosehill in Sydney.
He has also been employed by Harness Racing SA.
