$43.5m Tea Tree Plaza Park ‘n’ Ride expansion completed, with 500 new spaces

In a mega boost for commuters headed for the CBD, a hotly anticipated new facility has officially opened in Adelaide’s north-east – with hundreds to benefit.

Golden Grove Park ‘n’ Ride

A much-anticipated expansion of the Tea Tree Plaza Park ‘n’ Ride facility has been completed, with 500 new parking spaces now available to northern suburbs commuters.

The new $43.5m Park ‘n’ Ride facility opened on Friday morning, increasing the total number of spaces to 1200. It comes as the shopping centre cut space for a major retailer to make way for new tenants and facelifts.

The multistorey car park – consisting of a ground floor and three upper levels – has been built adjacent the existing Park ‘n’ Ride.

Vehicles can enter through the existing Park ‘n’ Ride and connect through a new ramp between the two buildings, meaning users will have a single entry and exit point.

This entry and exit point has also been upgraded, while the second exit lane has been extended along the full eastern length of the Park ‘n’ Ride & Busway Access Road – creating a three-lane roadway and removing the need to merge immediately into one exit lane when leaving the facility.

Premier Peter Malinauskas said the opening would end the “perennial race” for northern suburbs commuters to snag a park.

“The capacity of the Park N Ride will go from 700 up to 1200 to meet that demand that we know exists, so people can more readily use services like the O-Bahn, which is one of the most popular in our city,” he said.

Carparking will continue to be discounted to $2 for metroCARD users.

Along with Paradise and Golden Grove, the facility is now one of three Park ‘n’ Ride sites in the northeastern suburbs.
