A popular shopping centre in the northeastern suburbs has cut space for a major retailer to make way for new tenants and facelifts.
Posters on level one of Tea Tree Plaza are advertising a new JB Hi-Fi store and Timezone & Zone Bowling as opening soon on Myer’s former ground floor, with cosmetics giant MECCA also set to move in.
As the new stores open, Myer has reduced its floorspace at TTP back a level – but said it was upgrading it TTP location and adding new brands such as Vida Glow, American Eagle, Unison and Witchery.
JB Hi-Fi confirmed the new location was getting ready to open in late March and would “welcome customers to a fantastic new store” expected to span more than 1100 sqm.
“The Tea Tree Plaza store will offer customers the latest performance computers, mobiles, large TVs, headphones, collectibles, content creators’ gear, personal care and coffee machines,” the statement said.
The store will be built in line with the “newest store design” – such as the new outlet in Mount Baker – and has created 18 new jobs for an expected open before Easter shopping.
The new “dual venue” Timezone & Zone Bowling will include three birthday party rooms, 12 bowling lanes, bumper cars, laser tag, a cafe and more than 110 arcade games.
The new space will stretch over 2782 sqm and is expected to be the “perfect location” for the winter school holidays that kicks off in early July.
Timezone confirmed the existing location on level one would remain open until the new one was ready to open.
Other stores are set to move in to the Westfield shopping centre, including MECCA.
A spokesperson for Myer said it had announced in 2022 it would refurbish and upgrade the Myer Tea Tree Plaza store, while committing to a long-term lease. It said that work is now finished.
“The refurbishment includes new lighting, flooring, fixtures, entrance upgrade works, improved change rooms and customer amenities,” they said.
“A number of new and exciting brands have been added to the store.”
The new tenants landing at Tea Tree Plaza coincides with the opening of the expanded TTP Park ‘n’ Ride facility where 500 more carparks have been added.
