Man killed after being struck by Mercedes on Bruce Hwy at Gunalda

A man has died in the Gympie region after being struck by a vehicle driven by a Sunshine Coast man on the Bruce Highway.

A man has died following a serious traffic crash at Gunalda on Saturday.

About 5.30pm, police and emergency services were called to the Bruce Highway, between Hermans Road and Lindleys Lane, to reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

Initial investigations indicate the black Mercedes Benz was travelling south along the Bruce Highway when it has struck an 83-year-old Curra man.

The 83-year-old was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 54-year-old Nirimba man, was not physically injured and is assisting police.

Witnesses are being sought by forensic crash investigators after the incident.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have vision, including CCTV or dashcam, of the Mercedes or the pedestrian in the moments leading up to the crash, to please come forward.
