Teenage girl, 15, dies in hospital after being hit by ute on Bruxner Highway at East Lismore in northern NSW

A 15-year-old pedestrian has tragically died in hospital after being struck by a ute towing a trailer on a highway in the Northern Rivers. Here’s what we know.

Police have launched investigations after a teenage girl was hit by a ute towing a trailer on the highway and died in a Northern Rivers hospital.

Emergency services were called to the Bruxner Hwy at Lismore after it was reported a pedestrian, a 15-year-old girl, had been struck by the vehicle about 5pm on Wednesday.

Bystanders rushed to help the badly injured teenager.

“Members of the public administered first aid until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived,” according to NSW Police.

The girl was rushed to Lismore Base Hospital, but did not survive.

Meanwhile, the 42-year-old man behind the wheel of the ute was also taken to the hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Richmond Police District officers set up a crme scene and investigations were ongoing on Thursday morning.
