FOUR Territory businesses have been awarded contracts to build 15 modular classrooms for remote schools as part of a $6m NT government initiative.
Eight remote schools will benefit from the program that forms part of the government’s $11m classroom stimulus program announced last year.
The new classrooms will provide high-quality educational spaces with good acoustic qualities and state-of-the-art IT connectivity.
Alekerenge School will receive three new classrooms, Newcastle Waters one, Gapuwiyak two, Neutral Junction one, Ngukurr two, Woodroffe Primary three and Nightcliff Primary two.
Another site will be announced following consultation with the community.

Classrooms at Nightcliff and Woodroffe primary schools are for students with additional needs.
The new classrooms will, in most cases, replace aged infrastructure and the stimulus includes a modest allowance for the demolition of current buildings.
The buildings will rollout to schools from June, with some scheduled to be delivered in July.
Education Minister Lauren Moss said the school infrastructure would provide contemporary learning environments for teachers to deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs tailored to meet the needs of their students.

“10 of the 15 classrooms will be delivered to remote areas across Barkly and Arnhem with five for students with additional needs in Palmerston and Darwin,” Ms Moss said.
“We know that a strong, inclusive and supportive education system will see all students, irrespective of their ability, reach their full potential and achieve meaningful outcomes and this project will see these two schools receive much-needed classrooms to support teaching and learning amenities to support students with additional needs.”
