NSW and QLD bushfires: Satellite images show developing catastrophe
A nine-year-old boy has admitted to lighting a fire with a blowtorch with a group of children on NSW's south coast, causing a grass fire to break out and firefighters to be called.
A state of emergency has been declared as NSW firefighters fight against catastrophic conditions, that have been called "as bad as it gets".
NSW is in the midst of catastrophic and unprecedented conditions in what could be the most dangerous and destructive week of bushfires in Australia’s history.
Queensland is also bracing for severe fire danger as temperatures soar up to 10C above average in the coming days.
“I just hope we get through that OK," NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Rob Rogers said.
