A 31-year-old man who allegedly assisted the Hells Angels bikies charged with murdering Jason De Ieso has been released from custody on home detention bail.

A man charged in connection with the 2012 cold case murder of panel beater Jason De Ieso has been granted release on strict home detention bail conditions.

The man, 31, who cannot be identified due to a suppression order, is charged with one count of assisting an offender in relation to the shooting death of Mr De Ieso, 33, at his Pooraka workshop.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Chief Magistrate Judge Mary-Louise Hribal approved the release of the accused, who appeared via video link, after a “favourable” home detention report for a Salisbury Downs address was presented to the court.

Prosecutor Sarah Attar said there was no opposition to bail “based on the contents of the report”.

Judge Hribal imposed strict conditions including that the man be electronically monitored, banned from leaving the state and using drugs or alcohol unless prescribed.

He was also banned from any direct or indirect contact with any of his co-accused.

The man is among seven people charged over Mr De Ieso’s death. Five other men, aged between 26 and 34, have been charged with murder while the man and a woman, 26, of Reynella are each charged with assisting an offender.

The woman, who was arrested on the Gold Coast and flown back to Adelaide, was released on bail earlier this month.

In a highly unusual move she was whisked out a side door “for security reasons” after being released on bail.

None of the accused have yet entered pleas.

Police will allege each of the men charged with murder are current or former members or associates of the Hells Angels, and Mr De Ieso’s shooting was the culmination of an escalating feud with rival bikie gang the Finks.

Police have previously said Mr De Ieso was an innocent bystander caught up in a dispute between rival bikie gangs.

He was not a bikie, but was friends with a man connected to the Finks.

The matter returns to court next month when the suppression order will be reviewed.
