A woman charged in connection with the murder of panel beater Jason De Ieso in his Pooraka workshop has been granted release on bail.

The woman, who cannot be identified because there is a suppression order on her identity, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday seeking release on bail. She is charged with one count of assisting an offender.

Jim Pearce QC, prosecuting, said he did not oppose the woman’s release on bail because she had ties to the state including work history, children and family and only one prior offence for driving disqualified.

Outside court, her lawyer said he had not yet discussed with his client how she would plead.

In a highly unusual move, the woman exited the court via a side exit, instead of through the court’s front entrance.

A spokeswoman for the State Courts Administrator said the “alternative exit arrangements were put it place” for “security reasons”.

The Reynella woman, 26, was arrested on the Gold Coast in Queensland last Friday and flown back to Adelaide on Saturday.

She is among seven people charged over Mr De Ieso’s death. Five men, aged between 26 and 34, have been charged with murder, while the woman and another man, 31, of Salisbury Downs are each charged with assisting an offender.

None of the accused have entered pleas.

Police will allege the men charged with murder are all current or former members or associates of the Hells Angels, and Mr De Ieso’s shooting was the culmination of an escalating feud with the Finks.

Police have previously said Mr De Ieso, 33, was an innocent bystander caught up in a dispute between rival bikie gangs.

He was not a bikie, but was friends with a man connected to the Finks.

In an emotional video released on Sunday, Mr De Ieso’s parents, Giovanna and Sam De Ieso, described their son as a keen athlete in his younger years who loved fishing.

“It’s always with us, it never goes away and I don’t know why we have to go through this,” Mrs De Ieso said.

They pleaded for the remaining suspects to come forward.

Outside court on Monday, Detective Inspector Billy Thompson said police were “still working hard” to arrest a further three suspects.

The case will return to court next month.
