A fundraising page has been launched for a ‘doting father’ and ‘good and decent’ man who was struck down by a ute and killed last weekend.
Nerang man John-Charles Brennan, 41, was struck by a ute at about 11pm on Sunday, November 20 while walking on along Reedy Creek Rd near Mattocks Rd, West Burleigh.
He died at the scene.
In the aftermath of his tragic passing, best friend Scott Cunningham has launched a GoFundMe page to support the Brennan family, which has had donations of over $9000 in three days.
Mr Cunningham hopes to raise $200,000 for the family, as “Johnny was the main income provider and doting father for his young family”.
“John worked with Scally Projects in Burleigh. He had recently purchased and was renovating the family home,” the page reads.
“Without life insurance, our aim is to help the family to keep the home on their own terms.
The fundraiser amount will go towards the immediate expenses and the mortgage on the property.
“Funds will be paid directly into the mortgage account, or to Greta Brennan’s account.”
Mr Cunningham thanked the community for “any kind donations, condolences and messages to the family”.
