LOCAL fans of the North Queensland Cowboys are expecting the prelim final on Friday to be a tight game but predict their team will get the job done against the Parramatta Eels.
Cairns Esplanade’s Courtyard bar will show the game and its general manager, Benjamin Power, said the occasion will prove to be exciting.
“I think Cowboys are going to win by less than ten points,” Mr Power said.
“I’ll be here; I’m a 100 per cent Cowboys fan. It’s exciting to get involved in events here.”
Mr Power has a special offer for locals if the Cowboys make the NRL grand final.
“We’ll have the game on all three of our screens in our venue and we’ll have free wings for the first half of the game,” he said.
Fellow Cowboys fan Dan Charnley, who admits he was probably a bit too boisterous in his celebrations of the team’s 2015 victory, will be watching the game this weekend.
“I was probably the loudest in the pub that night,” Mr Charnley said.
“There were probably more Broncos’ fans than Cowboys’ fans that night, but I didn’t care; I just went for it.”
The Cowboys will contest the Eels at Queensland Country Bank Stadium this Friday. Kick-off is scheduled for 7.50pm.
