A second person has been charged over a Marrara car park brawl back in June following a Premier League soccer match.

Five players were suspended following the incident at the Darwin Football Stadium after a match between Hellenic and Port Darwin on June 26, with one banned for three years and a further two for two years respectively.

However, both clubs have appealed the sanctions through peak body Football NT.

Hellenic player Paris Makrylos, 18, who has been charged with assault following the incident, did not attend Darwin Local Court on Monday.

NT Police have previously said the carpark encounter was an “escalation” of the match.

Her legal representative, Koulla Roussos, told the court there was a “co-accused” following the incident, 20-year-old Joanna Makrylos.

Makrylos has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

A Joanna Makrylos was named for Hellenic in the June 26 encounter.

In court on Monday, Roussos said she was confident Paris Makrylos’ matter would be settled at a directions hearing in early December.

“There is a strong prospect of the charge being withdrawn,” Roussos said.

She had called for the matter to be heard on that date to “to marry up with a co-offender Joanna Makrylos”.

“I expect a decision would be made by (then),” she said.

“Let’s just say that there’s a 95 per cent aspect of this matter … resolving.”
