A seven-storey apartment building from Scott Salisbury Group has been approved for Glenelg North.
The State Commission Assessment Panel on Thursday gave the green light to the Adelphi Terrace development, which will include 46 apartments and 17 townhouses.
Adelphi Terrace is designated as a residential “high-density” zone, which allows a maximum of five storeys or 18.5m.
The approved building, however, will be 23.1m tall.
An August letter from the SCAP requested “refinement” of the design – first released in June – to set the sixth and seventh levels further back from the bulk of the building below to prevent it being imposing from the streetfront.
The final design set the floors back an extra metre, so they were more than 18m from the street.
It also changed the design of the top two floors to make it look more streamlined.
The townhouses will be set behind the apartment building with access from Tod St.
Scott Salisbury Group bought up six blocks for the development in February for more than $6 million and totalling nearly 7000sq m.
