A longstanding, popular vegan cafe has suddenly shut its doors permanently after serving the community for 45 years.
In a shock announcement posted across several social media platforms on Saturday morning, Sarah’s Sister’s Sustainable Cafe revealed it was “with a heavy heart” that they made the decision to close.
Despite the owners’ pain, they thanked the community for its support over the years.
“To all our Sisters,” they wrote. “Thank you to all for the love and support not just over the past 4 years but for Sarah’s entire 45 year history.
“Sarah’s Sister’s will always hold such a special place in all of our hearts.
“We are sorry we were not able to see you all for a final coffee and meal but we are grateful to still be Semaphore locals and we hope to see most of you around our beautiful community.”
The owners’ also thanked their past and present staff, neighbours and customers – who have become friends – as well as their suppliers.
They ended their post saying they are “so proud” of their achievements and “grateful to have shared it with you all”.
Followers of the cafe are advised to still keep an eye on the Sarah’s Sister’s Sustainable Cafe social media, in case of further updates or photo dumps.
