A man was working in his Royal Park workshop when three men allegedly tried to kill him, firing a bullet into his shoulder as he tried to leave, a court has heard.

Fresh details about the curious alleged attempted murder of Royal Park man John Gabby Rahme emerged as a young couple faced court charged over the shooting.

Police prosecutor John Payne told the Port Adelaide Magistrates court they alleged Manningham man Kurt Francis Kernahan, 29, is the last to be charged over the shooting, which happened before he and the two other men ran away to his girlfriend who was waiting in a nearby car.

Kernahan, 29, was arrested on Sunday, after being at large for 12 days, and on Monday faced the court charged with attempted murder.

His girlfriend, Tiana Maddison Zenari, 22, of Gawler West, appeared in the same court charged with aiding and abetting attempted murder and failing to truly answer questions.

Mr Payne told Magistrate Luke Davis the duo, alongside two other co-accused Troy Richard Trengove, 51, and Troy James Doyle-Tarrant, 44, played their part in the alleged terrifying shooting on Brandwood St earlier this month.

“The victim is alleged to have been working at his workshop … when he was shot in the left shoulder,” he said.

“He is seen to exit his warehouse in a black Ford Ranger and he parks and exits his vehicle and re-enters the warehouse to lockup.

“While doing so (Kernahan) is seen running towards the (alleged) victim in the company of Trengove and Doyle-Tarrant.

“There’s an attempt by them to break open the warehouse door.

“Trengove is seen brandishing a firearm … at the entrance of the warehouse the victim is standing in the doorway and is seen to be shot, on the allegation, by Trengove.”

Mr Payne told the court Trengove, Kernahan and Mr Doyle-Tarrant then took off on foot and ran to Ms Zenari who was allegedly waiting in her car.

Trengove, Kernahan and Mr Doyle-Tarrant are all charged with attempted murder.

Court documents released earlier this month revealed Trengove was also charged with two counts of possessing a firearm and one of possessing ammunition.

Those documents alleged he was caught while in possession of an improvised “zip” pistol on the day of the alleged shooting as well as a “pen gun” the following day at Waterloo Corner.

Patrick Deegan, for Kernahan, told Magistrate Luke Davis his client intended to apply for home detention bail while awaiting the chance to take full instructions.

Danni Stephens, for Ms Zenari, who was wearing an Oodie while appearing in court from remand, said her client worked at a West Lakes hotel and her family had to call in sick for her because she was in custody.

Ms Stephens said Ms Zenari feared losing her job if she was remanded in custody.

She said Ms Zenari was due to commence a TAFE course next week, of which part of her application she had completed while at large, and that would likely fall by the wayside if she was remanded.

Mr Davis remanded Kernahan pending the return of a home detention report and denied Ms Zenari’s request for bail.

He said the strength of the prosecution’s case and the seriousness of the charges were too great.

The quartet will next face court in May.
