A man has admitted his role in a western suburbs gift shop robbery – where staff were threatened with a machete – while his co-accused have denied their involvement.

Ethan David Keipert, 23, pleaded guilty to theft using force in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday, while his co-accused, Nathan John Kartinyeri, 25, and Remi Davis Anderson, 20, pleaded not guilty to the same charge.

The fourth accused, Albert James Miller, 22, of Croydon, will appear in court later this week to argue he has no case to answer.

The court previously heard the four men drove to a Woodville Gardens gift shop on May 20 in a car which had false plates.

Mr Miller and Mr Kartinyeri exited the car wearing all black and face coverings.

“Mr Kartinyeri was wielding a large machete at the employees in the gift shop telling them not to move,” the prosecutor said.

The prosecutor said Mr Miller can be seen on CCTV climbing over the counter and taking over $30,000 in cash from the draws behind the till.

With Mr Keipert and Mr Miller allegedly acting as the getaway drivers, the four men then drove off and went back to Mr Keipert’s house.

Nick Vadasz, for Mr Miller, previously told the court there was no DNA or fingerprint evidence linking Mr Miller to the robbery.

“The stills (from the CCTV footage) are extremely poor quality and have very little evidentiary value,” he said.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Chief Magistrate Mary-Louise Hribal committed Mr Anderson, of Croydon Park, Mr Keipert, of Devon Park, and Mr Kartinyeri, of Mansfield Park, to the District Court for arraignment next year.
