Christopher James-Tuncks Collias caught with commercial amount of fantasy at party

A painter who was caught red-handed by police tipping out fantasy during an illegal Covid-19 party has been sentenced.

Addict unrecognisable after transformation

A commercial drug dealer who brought his illegal hustle to a party narrowly dodged jail after police caught him red-handed.

Christopher James-Tuncks Collias’ “reckless lifestyle” started after he turned to drugs during a traumatic phase in his life.

The District Court heard police attended at Collias’ Adelaide apartment on November 19, 2020 after reports of a party during a Covid-19 lockdown.

“As the police approached your apartment they found you, in the stairwell, with a bottle of fantasy in your hand,” Judge Heath Barklay said during sentencing.

“When you saw the police you tipped the fantasy onto the ground.”

Police searched Collias’ apartment and found 1.4 litres of fantasy in various containers, valued between $1400 and $7000.

They also found tick lists and $2690, which was proceeds of past drugs sales.

Collias, 34, of North Adelaide, pleaded guilty to commercial drug trafficking.

The court heard Collias was unemployed and addicted to drugs at the time of the offending.

“You were dealing drugs as a means of funding your own drug addiction and paying for your lifestyle, including the day-to-day costs of rent, food and utilities,” Judge Barklay said.

Bradley Dittmar, for Collias, previously told the court he went into a downward spiral after his marriage broke down and he lost his sister to a rare disease.

The court heard after Collias was made redundant from his mining job in 2020, it led to a “reckless lifestyle”.

Collias was sentenced in March last year for terrorising a woman while high on meth and fantasy after discovering that she had been cheating on his friend.

The court heard Collias was currently working as a painter but had ambitions to return to the mining industry.

Judge Barklay sentenced Collias to three years and nine months jail, with a non-parole period of two years.

“Drug use creates a great deal of social harm. It ruins many people's lives and fuels criminal behaviour in our society,” he said.

Due to Collias’ employment and rehabilitation efforts, the sentence was suspended on a three year good behaviour bond, with supervision for two years.
