A young girl was left frightened to keep living at her house after a brick was thrown through their window by a man high on drugs.

Christopher James-Tuncks Collias, 32, was fuelled by “misguided protection” for his friend when he terrorised a woman and smashed her property.

A police prosecutor told the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday that the victim was at her Goodwood house with her seven-year-old daughter on December 22.

“She heard a noise in the backyard and saw that the gate had been forced open,” the police prosecutor said.

Collias and his friend were outside.

“She went outside to confront them and the defendant picked up a glass table and threw it against her house wall which smashed the table,” the police prosecutor said.

“He started banging a metal pole on the front of the fence in an intimidating manner … she (the victim) saw him holding a brick in his right hand before he threw it through her lounge room window.

“Her seven-year-old daughter was traumatised and screaming in fear.”

The court heard police arrived and Collias violently resisted arrest.

“He attempted to push past them before swinging a punch … the officer ducked, meaning the punch missed,” the police prosecutor said.

“The defendant’s behaviour was so aggressive towards police that police utilised OC spray.”

The court heard the victim’s daughter was left frightened to keep living at the house, scared that Collias would come back.

Collias, of Adelaide, pleaded guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday to property damage and assaulting police.

Stephen Ey, for Collias, told the court Collias had been in custody since his arrest on the day of the incident.

“It had been discovered that the victim had been sleeping around and had been cheating on his friend,” he said.

“He was affected by fantasy and methamphetamine which explains why his behaviour was so ridiculously stupid.”

Mr Ey told the court Collias went into a downward spiral after he had a marriage breakdown and lost his sister to a rare disease.

“Regrettably he turned to self medicate by way of fantasy and methamphetamine,” he said.

Magistrate Jayne Basheer noted that the behaviour was “out of character” for Collias.

“As a result of your belief and misguided protection of your friend you engaged in conduct which resulted in significant damage to her property,” she said.

“There’s no doubt that this would have been very frightening for the occupant of that house, obviously you had no right to behave in that way.”

Ms Basheer convicted Collias with no further penalty, taking into account the time served.
