A western suburbs rail line will be closed during the July school holidays for major work on the Gawler line electrification project.
Other lines will also be closed on weekends during the holidays.
The entire Outer Harbor and Grange rail line has to close for the two week period between Saturday, July 3, and Sunday, July 18, because work needs to be done in the railyards near Adelaide Railway Station.
Substitute buses will operate during the school holidays.
The Belair, Seaford and Flinders lines will close for three consecutive weekends.
Transport Minister Corey Wingard said the works would put the $715 million Gawler Rail Electrification Project on track for completion by the end of the year.
“While the AFL has not yet released its final fixture for July, these closures may impact some rail services to matches,” Mr Wingard said.
“But we wanted to provide this advice now, before the final AFL fixture is released, to give commuters as much notice as possible so they can plan ahead, with additional substitute buses to operate before and after any affected matches.”
