A popular cafe that overlooks the Port Adelaide River will shut its doors permanently on Sunday after almost 10 years of trading.
On Thursday Folklore Cafe announced its closure in an emotional Facebook post.
“It’s with a very heavy heart that I have decided to close Folklore Cafe,” owner Anika Havey said in the post.
“It’s been an incredible nine years and I feel very lucky to have been here for this long.”
The popular cafe served a range of dishes made from local and sustainable produce.
The owner went on to explain how difficult it was to reach the decision after making strong connections in the community.
“I never imagined I would make it this far, and would like to thank all my friends, family and loyal customers over the years to the bottom of my heart,” she said.
I’ve learnt that culture and community takes time, patience, care, and wholesome intention.”
Ms Havey said she will always look back on her journey at the cafe and the happy memories she made there.
“Folklore has been a collective effort by everyone and I can’t thank you all enough for that,” she said.
“It’s an experience I will look back on with love and fondness for the rest of my life.”
Ms Havey also thanked her staff and family for their support.
“This would have not been possible without all of you. You have all worked so hard and shown so much love and support in so many ways,” she said.
