Mima’s Grooming crowned SA’s best groomers

Many young business owners may be intimidated by the competition, but this groomer thrives under a challenge. Meet SA’s top five dog groomers.

While slow and steady may win the race, for this mum of two it’s full speed ahead in making sure you love your dog’s cut.

Mima Terzic, from Mima’s Grooming in Allenby Gardens, has worked her way up to becoming the successful business owner she is today.

She has been voted South Australia’s top groomer.

“I was 18 when I started and I was grooming for about seven years when I decided to open up,” Ms Terzic said.

“I started at the bottom.”

At 24, Ms Terzic ventured out on her own and hasn’t looked back, employing four staff members at her Port Rd Salon as they soldier through their mass bookings.

“This has always been what I wanted,” she said.

“I will just jump straight into something because I’m not scared.

“I was lucky enough to be taught how to groom hands-on.

“Generally we do anywhere 27 to 30 dogs a day.

“It may seem like a large number but not all of them are going to be haircuts.

“We are often flat out.

“Normally dog groomers have some down time during winter, but we just don’t have that.

“We are booked three weeks in advance.”

Some 15 years into her career, Ms Terzic juggles raising her children and working.

She said she was blown away by the community that helped to make Mima’s a success.

“It makes me so proud to know how far I have come,” she said.

“I have a beautiful support all around me – I can’t thank them enough.”
