The young guns dominating Adelaide cricket
Rising dual sport talent Jack Matchett is a name to watch.
In September, the schoolboy played beyond his years as a part of Glenunga’s senior A grade side as it made the division two Adelaide Footy League grand final.
Then he was best on ground as Adelaide High claimed the SAAS Twenty20 Cup in November.
And now he sits in fourth spot in the batting rankings for our lists of Adelaide’s top cricketers.
Matchett has piled on 545 runs at 109 for Glenunga in Adelaide Turf’s under-17 division one competition after smashing three brilliant tons this campaign.
The opener began the year with a stellar 187 from 178 balls before compiling an unbeaten 101 in round five prior to Christmas and then a stellar 165 from just 80 deliveries on Saturday.
His brilliant performances have taken him just ahead of fellow young gun Hamish Height on our list by five runs.
The Flinders Park under-15 batsman has 540 at a handy average of 135.
Salisbury West big-hitter Jamie McIntyre has taken top spot in the batting list thanks to a 96 and a 83 not out in his past two knocks.
His impressive total of 656 runs at 109.33 this season was built off a massive 257 in round two.
In the bowling ranks, Peninsula Pirates’ Troy Reciszen continues to lead the way with 31 wickets at 6.87 in Para Districts LO1.
But he has a new challenger.
Sheidow Park’s Sean McLaughlin has taken 18 scalps across his last four innings to storm up the leaderboard and sit only two behind on 29 at 17.76.
