The full list of South Australian players who have nominated for the 2022 AFL Draft

The AFL Draft is almost here and ex-AFL players, SANFL stars, young guns and country players from around SA are among this year’s nominees. Here’s every SA player putting their name up.

A total of 138 South Australian footballers have officially put their names in the running to be called out in next week’s AFL Draft.

With the first round beginning on Monday, the list includes ex-AFL players, young guns., SANFL stars and even country footballers from around the state who are looking to solidify a spot on an AFL list.

We’ve constructed a list of every South Australian player to nominate of the 886 names nationwide.

Here is the list in alphabetical order of club.

ADELAIDE (SANFL) (1)

Jack Lewis.

ADELAIDE (AFL/delisted) (4)

Ben Davis, Andrew McPherson, James Rowe, Brett Turner.

Davis, McPherson, Rowe and Turner have all been delisted by the Crows after the 2022 season, with Turner unable to register an AFL appearance after leaving Glenelg in the midseason draft.

The four players are eligible next week and could be a shot at finding another AFL spot.

Rowe will play for Woodville-West Torrens if he is not taken.

CENTRAL DISTRICT (12)

Adam Deakin, Isaiah Dudley, Harry Grant, Jamie Jones, Billy McCormack, Rhett Montgomerie, Kyle Presbury, Finn Reed, Bailey Reeves, Beau Thomas, Brodie Tuck, Luca Whitelum.

The Bulldogs have another solid crop of potential draftees this year.

Isaiah Dudley will put his hand up again after missing out last season, while Sacred Heart College and Tanunda Football Club product Luca Whitelum has emerged as a player with high potential up front.

Rhett Montgomerie was also a star for the club this year, dominating at the back.

GLENELG (14)

Matthew Allen, Hayden Brokensha, Will Chandler, Jayden Davis, Archie Lovelock, Mackinley Miller, Jarrad Parish, Lewis Rayson, Marco Rossmann, Jakob Ryan, Lachlan Scannell, Hugh Stagg, Will Trevena, Jake Walker.

Hayden Brokensha has established himself as an outside chance this year after winning the Glenelg U18 best and fairest this season, beating out a number of talented names.

Mature aged prospect Matthew Allen has also put his hand up after averaging 20 touches a game at League level.

NORWOOD (15)

Jackson Callow, Phoenix Foster, Ryan Fuss, Thomas Graham, Noah Hyde, Baynen Lowe, Max Michalanney, Harvey Pedler, Damon Pitt, Tyson Pratt, Taj Rahui, Jay Rantall, Alex van Wyk, Patrick Walker, Tyson Walls.

Max Michalanney headlines Norwood’s potential draftees this season, the talented backman impressing for Norwood at League level, especially through this year’s finals series.

The son of Jim Michalanney, Max will almost certainly be taken by Adelaide as a father-son pick.

Young guns Phoenix Foster, Noah Hyde, Harvey Pedler and Tyson Walls are also a chance, while forward Jackson Callow has nominated after returning from Hawthorn and Bayden Lowe will put his hand up after a premiership season with the Redlegs.

NORTH ADELAIDE (24)

North Adelaide has the most prospects of any club this season, with a range of players eligible.

Walkerville and St Peter’s College player Billy Dowling has been impressive for the Roosters through the middle and should be picked, while Isaac Keeler’s supreme skill and athleticism as a forward/ruck utility has caught the attention of many clubs.

Former Crows player Harrison Wigg is also in the mix after a strong year with North Adelaide’s league side.

Frederick, Mayes, Schofield and Williams have all been delisted by Port Adelaide but could still be picked up by another AFL club next week.

Mays, who has recently joined North Adelaide, has spent many years in the AFL system with Brisbane and Port Adelaide and is one of the intriguing mature agers.

SOUTH ADELAIDE (17)

Isaac Birt, Angus Bradley, Oscar Clavarino, Koby Cockshell, Oliver Davis, Charlie Duncan, Elliot Dunkin, Cameron Kirkland, Jaiden Magor, Kyle Marshall, Kobe Mutch, Mitchell O’Neill, Hayden Sampson, Ely Smith, Kyan Smith, Zachary Sproule, Will Verrall.

South Adelaide has again produced some of the state’s best talent, with gun players like midfielder Isaac Birt and versatile star Jaiden Magor – who has come out of the Myponge/Sellicks Football Club – headlining the group.

Christies Beach ruck Will Verrall has also put together a standout season and caught the attention of many around the country.

STURT (10)

Zac Becker, Sam Breuer, Malachy Carruthers, Will Coomblas, Tom Emmett, Stirling Phipps-Parsons, James Richards, Nicholas Sadler, Will Torode, Casey Voss.

Casey Voss will be eligible again after missing out during the preseason draft, the rookie draft and the midseason draft, the gun defender remaining a standout for Sturt all year.

Goodwood Saints product Zac Becker will also be a shout after impressing at the back and through the middle.

WEST ADELAIDE (21)

Frane Babic, Harry Barnett, Tyson Coe, Liam Delahunty, Hamish Ellem, Clayton Gay, William Glanvill, Joshua Gore, Oscar Kregar, Harry Lemmey, Darcy Minchella, Anthony Munkara, Charlie Pridham, Kye Roberts, Kobe Ryan, Thomas Scully, Lachlan Squire, Oscar Steene, Joel Stevens, Jordan White, Dylan White.

Westminster College boarder and West Adelaide gun Anthony Munkara remains a big chance at being drafted after spending time in the AFL academy.

The electric and dangerous forward/ruck is one of many talented names who could be selected from the Bloods’ ranks, with Kobe Ryan also a strong chance after a solid year in the middle.

WOODVILLE-WEST TORRENS (13)

Connor Ballenden, Nathan Barkla, Luke Beecken, Zachary Buck, Lukas Cooke, Adam D’Aloia, Blake Hansen, Rory Lehmann, Jordan Lukac, Will Pearce, Mattaes Phillipou, Zac Phillips, Zane Williams.

Mattaes Phillipou looks set to be SA’s highest picked player in this year’s draft, with a number of clubs attempting to move inside the top 10 of the selection order to take the star Eagles midfielder/forward.

Other promising young guns such as Nathan Barkla and Adam D’Aloia have impressed in the lead-up.

OTHER (2)

Blake Fidge (Sturt, Mannum – River Murray Football League), Patrick Tidemann (Sturt, Mount Barker – Hills Football League).

Both Fidge and Tidemann represented SANFL sides throughout 2022 but played for their local clubs during the tail end.

Fidge booted 19 goals in 17 games for Sturt’s U18s and was also among Mannum’s best players through his five local games, while Tidemann played three games for Mount Barker before also moving into Sturt’s U18s side.
