One of South Australia’s best young netball talents has left her childhood Premier League club for a new outfit ahead of season 2023.

Premiership-winning midcourter Tahlia Dnistrjanski has joined Garville in a surprise move after another standout season with Contax.

Dnistrjanski has been talent identified multiple times through her young career, has represented and captained SA at U17s and U19s level, been selected in the Australia U17s and U19s national squads and is the reigning SASI program athlete of the year.

“Contax had been my club since I was eight years old and I’m very grateful for my time there but I saw a better opportunity for me at Garville in terms of locking down that starting Premier League position,” Dnistrjanski said.

“It was a tough decision, Contax was like family to me and I looked up to the girls I played alongside but at the end of the day I had to do what was best for me and I’m looking forward to a new beginning and a new chapter with Garville.”

A versatile midcourter who can play a variety of positions and roles, Dnistrjanski had another successful year with Contax in 2022 after taking out the 2021 Premier League championship.

She said she looked forward to joining Greys captain Jordyn Adams – who has re-signed with the club this offseason – as well as talented attacker Jacoba Clough.

“There’s a lot of talent at the club and potential for success – a lot of teams are getting stronger and I think Garville is definitely one of those teams,” Dnistrjanski said.

“I’m looking forward to working and playing with Jordy (Adams) after crossing paths in state teams through the years and linking up with Jacoba is going to be great as well.

“I’m aiming to bring experience and leadership on and off the court and just try to get along and have fun with everyone.”

Garville finished second bottom last Premier League season but will aim to push for finals with the re-signing of Adams and arrival of Dnistrjanski.

The club’s new midcourter said a finals push was not out of the question.

“The club has some experienced players but also a lot of young players coming through so I think there’s a really strong mixture at the moment.

“The goal will first and foremost be to play consistent, strong netball and remain competitive each week but I also think we can push for finals and I’d love to see what we can do in the business part of the season.”
