Mature-age prospects among invitees from SANFL clubs to state draft combine in October

Glenelg midfielder and former West Coast Eagle Luke Partington is one of 21 SA players invited to test in front of AFL scouts at the state draft combine later this year.

SANFL Round 12 Player of Week: Luke Partington

Glenelg midfielder and former West Coast Eagle Luke Partington is one of 21 SA players invited to test at the SA state draft combine later this year.

The list features a number of mature-age prospects and under-18 draft hopefuls, which have been nominated by AFL clubs to attend the screening on October 12.

The 22-year-old Partington, who was delisted last year and joined Glenelg this season, headlines the nominees after a strong SANFL campaign where he has averaged 29.7 disposals per game.

Woodville-West Torrens forward James Rowe, 19, has also scored an invitation.

The son of former Adelaide Crow Stephen Rowe was overlooked in the 2018 draft but has impressed with 31 goals in 14 games this season.

Norwood’s Cole Gerloff, who has stepped up at the Redlegs this season, will also test along with Crows development-listed pair Jy Farrar and Millicent product Tom Hutchesson.

Farrar has played two SANFL games but has spent the majority of the season playing for Scotch Old Collegians in the Adelaide Footy League.

He is originally from Western Australia and is the cousin of Crows forward Shane McAdam.

Five Sturt players are on the combine list, including brothers Mihail and Anzac Lochowiak.

Youngsters Jed McEntee, Oliver Grivell and Lachlan Burrows join them.

Prospective Norwood ruckman Henry Crauford – signed from south-east club Mount Burr in the off-season – is yet to play a league game but has drawn interest from scouts.

The players will have the chance to show their wares in a range of athletic tests at the combine in front of AFL scouts.

The screening comes after the national combine, held in Melbourne on October 6, where players needed to be nominated by at least four clubs to be invited.
