Performed strongly in the country champs and had bags of nine, eight and seven majors in the WBFLfeaturing among his side’s best on 10 occasions.

(Port MacDonnell, Mid South Eastern Football League)

Former Glenelg gun Tim Sullivan has been a star for Port MacDonnell. Picture: SANFL

In 2022 he played as a ruck/forward and hit the scoreboard freely with 38 goals.

But it was his overall impact through athleticism, skills and leadership that earned him 14 best player appearances in 18 games as well as the MSEFL Mail Medal.

123. ELLIOTT CHALMERS

(Myponga/Sellicks, Great Southern Football League)

Chalmers was one of a mass exodus from North Adelaide’s SANFL side at the end of 2021. Joining a Mudlarks side not afraid to splash some cash to claw their way back into GSFL contention, Chalmers was a key signing.

Coming fit and firing from a season in the NT, the man who once kept Tyson Stengle goalless in the SANFL backed it up down south with nine best-player shouts from 17 games.

Hit his straps in the finals as one of his team’s best September performers.

122. BRAD BRYANT

(Penola, Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League)

As co-captain of Penola, Bryant’s individual season was a shining light in an otherwise disappointing year for his last-placed club.

The zenith of his season was selection for SA Country against WA after star showings in four rep games.

He played a leading hand for Penola across half-back and was named among his side’s best in 12 of his 16 games.

Snuck forward for eight goals, too.

121. MARK EVANS

(Pembroke Old Scholars, Adelaide Footy League)

Joining Pembroke OS as playing-coach after a decorated SANFL career with Sturt, Evans could hardly be happier with the choice.

After a disappointing 2021 campaign from his new side, Evans led the Kings to a premiership and D3 promotion.

Was best on ground in the grand final victory, and kicked 38 goals from 17 games as a forward who could pinch hit through the middle.

120. NIC SCHWARZ

(Flinders Park, Adelaide Footy League)

A bullocking midfielder who can hurt you on the inside and outside, Schwarz played games where he was irresistible this season on his way to a third placing in the league medal.

Kicked 14 goals and was among his side’s best 10 times from 20 games in a happy return to amateur football from the former seasoned SANFL gun.

119. ALEX HAREN

(Glenunga, Adelaide Footy League)

Haren led by example through the middle with a hard-nosed playing style and a large tank, allowing him to cover ground with ease and hit the scoreboard.

Kicked eight goals in 2022 and received 12 best-player mentions as his team achieved an unlikely finals campaign.

118. LEVI PROUDE

One of a crop of top amateur league stars who crossed to Myponga/Sellicks for the 2022 season, Proude’s signature proved one of their top gets.

Was unlucky not to poll higher in the Great Southern Football League Mail Medal after 11 best-player shouts from 21 games for the Mudlarks.

A strong and tall midfielder who can also hit the scoreboard – which Proude did 12 times – the former Port Magpie was a key cog in Myponga/Sellicks’s surge up the ladder in 2022.

117. ZAC HAWKINS

(Port District, Adelaide Footy League)

While diminutive in stature, Hawkins’ impact on the best amateur side in the state in Port District was anything but.

Was named in his side’s best nine times playing on the wing and across half-back, five of those as best-on-ground.

Provides defensive support, but his pace allows him to break free from his opposing forward to hit them going the other way.

After being unlucky not to play more SANFL footy, Hawkins continues to carve out a fantastic amateur league career with his junior club.

116. ZAC SMITH

(Glenunga, Adelaide Footy League)

Glenunga coach Nathan Grima was full of praise for Smith through 2022 and it came as no surprise, with the gun defender being the ideal option for his defensive-minded coach.

The Rams were one of the most formidable defensive sides in division one this season and Smith’s ability to intercept mark as a key back while also playing tall and small was worth its weight in gold.

Smith locked down a number of forwards and was among his side’s best in 12 of his 20 games.

115. ROBERT IRRA

(Reynella, Southern Football League)

Local gun Robert Irra breaks through the middle in this year’s SFL grand final Reynella win. Picture: Tricia Watkinson

The brother of former Port-listed player and South star Emmanuel Irra, Robert has carved out a name for himself as one of the most damaging players in the SFL.

He took home the Mail Medal in 2021 and backed up that fine season with another starring year for eventual premier Reynella.

While playing on the wing and through the middle of the ground Irra hit the scoreboard with nine goals and chalked up eight best-player nods on his way to a premiership medal.

114. FRAZER BRADLEY

(Millicent, Western Border Football League)

As part of the all conquering Millicent side, Bradley was his team’s only SA Country representative against WA.

That selection came as an under 21, making it all the more impressive.

SA coach Rick Macgowan was no doubt impressed by Bradley’s ability to do damage on the wing or through the middle.

Bobs up for important goals when his side needs them and was named in Millicent’s best players nine times from 17 games, including in the grand final victory.

113. LIAM CORRIE

(Morphett Vale, Southern Football League)

As an absolute star youngster Corrie turned heads at South Adelaide before narrowly missing out on an AFL shot.

Now 30, Corrie has starred in the Southern Football League for Morphett Vale for a decade.

While he can play anywhere on the ground, Corrie’s speed and elite kicking are suited to half-back.

He also knows his way around goals and can have an impact through the middle.

In 2022 he narrowly missed out on a league Mail Medal, but appeared in a grand final, kicked 13 goals and appeared in his side’s best 11 times.

112. BRAYDEN KAIN

(South Gambier, Western Border Football League)

A star of the South East, Kain was in fine form again in 2022 on his way to more representative footy and a grand final berth for his South Gambier side.

Was also a member of the SA Country side which took on WA.

Booted 63 goals in 18 games for South and was prolific in the country champs adding another six goals from three games.

111. MATT CRETTENDEN

(United Yeelanna, Great Flinders Football League)

A hard, tough and fair utility, Crettenden starred in 2022 on his way to his selection for SA Country against WA.

Known throughout the Eyre Peninsula as a no nonsense footballer, and a hard day’s work for any opponent, Crettenden has made his already iconic surname even more well known.

The Sacred Heart product was a major reason why his United Yeelanna side finished the season without losing a game.

The captain of his side, he booted two goals in the grand final victory and 22 for the year in a polished all-round season.

110. LUKE RANDER

(Athelstone, Adelaide Footy League)

Rander had a slow start by his standards to the 2022 season but was back to his usual dominant self toward the tail end.

The Raggies captain and former Redlegs SANFL forward has maintained his impressive athleticism and football IQ in division two and consistently creates opportunities for his teammates off of half-forward with elite delivery.

Booted 33 majors this year and was among Athelstone’s best seven times.

While the club failed to gain promotion to the top division this year, it remains a strong chance in 2023 if Rander hits top form.

109. DYLAN ALDRIDGE

(Proprietary/Risdon, Spencer Gulf Football League)

Dylan Aldridge takes a big grab for Port Adelaide. He has dominated in the Spencer Gulf Football League. Picture: Emma Brasier

After earning SANFL experience with the North Adelaide reserves, Aldridge took his wares back to the Spencer Gulf where he was close to unstoppable.

Did all he could to get Proprietary/Risdon to lift the premiership cup with 56 goals from 17 games playing as a mid-forward, but could not overcome a Solomontown powerhouse.

Chalked up two SANFL games with the Port Adelaide reserves side and also performed strongly in the SA Country Champs.

108. TODD REID

(South Gambier, Western Border Football League)

Reid’s insatiable form for South Gambier saw him picked in the SA Country Champs where he excelled before making it into the SA team against WA.

Arguably the league’s best defender, Reid chalked up 10 best-player nods from 18 games to lead his side to the minor premiership over an impressive Millicent side, the eventual premier.

107. COREY DAVEY

(Solomontown, Spencer Gulf Football League)

Was the SGFL’s Madigan Medallist in a premiership-winning year and tallied 15 best-player nods and 49 goals from his 20 games.

Can play through the middle or as a key position player with his versatility and athleticism seeing him become a key part of Northern’s SA Country Championships side.

106. JAXON BENNETT

(Marble Range, Port Lincoln Football League)

Was a worthy selection in the SA Country team, a game in which he slotted a goal, after a starring role for Marble Range and a standout Country Champs and Mortlock Shield.

Was a major part of the Magpies’ undefeated premiership victory with his strength, speed and skill through the middle.

Kicked 11 goals from 13 games for Marble Range to go along with four best-player shouts and was best on in his side’s GF victory.

105. AISEA RAIKIWASA

(Ports, Eastern Eyre Football League)

‘Magic’ by name, and magic by nature, Raikiwasa has been a star addition to the Eastern Eyre Football League after crossing from the GSFL at the start of the year.

Played another important role in the SA Country Championships with his speed, cleanliness and assured skills.

While a prime example of a journeyman, ‘Magic’ has had a huge impact at every club he’s played at and was named in the SANFL’s SA Country team of the decade.

In 2022 he tallied eight best-player nods from his 13 games for Ports to go with another three best players in the Mortlock Shield and another in the country footy champs.

Playing through centre and ahead of the ball, Colquhoun is a smooth and athletic player who has the ability to finish on either side of his body or set up teammates in a better position.

The former Sturt and Port Adelaide man can do it all, booting 35 goals and tallying 12 best player nods in his 18 games this year and nearly guiding the Magpies to a grand final appearance – the side falling to Nuriootpa in the prelim.

While Trengove might not have reached the heights he did last season, his output for Princes remained at an extremely high level.

The former no. 1 AFL draft pick and Melbourne captain is a tireless worker through the middle who can completely take over a game, as seen in this year’s preliminary final win against Goodwood.

His decision-making and ball-use makes him one of the most dangerous players in local footy.

A big bodied and versatile centre who can win his own ball, lay dozens of tackles a game and distribute to teammates with skill and precision, Favretto dominated against all opposition in 2022.

In 21 appearances this season, he booted 13 goals – including four against Glenunga in the qualifying final – and tallied 16 best player nods.

He is an excellent user of the footy by foot or hand and packs a damaging and rangy left boot.

Spending a lot of his time on the ball this year but also putting in shifts up front and behind the ball, Gray’s skill and versatility makes him an impossible matchup.

He tallied 10 best player appearances and seven goals in his 20 games for the Magpies this year and was the standout player in the club’s first premiership run in 30 years.
