DIVISION ONE

2023 promises to be one of the most highly-anticipated seasons in recent division one history, with two powerhouse sides in Broadview and Sacred Heart OC entering from division two and a number of clubs continuing to strengthen.

SHOC has added Joel Cross in the pre-season, while reigning premier Port District will welcome Kenny Karpany and 2022 grand finalist Prince Alfred OC brings former Glenelg captain Andrew Bradley in.

2022 finals team Glenunga has also strengthened with the inclusion of Sturt gun Abe Davis, while Brighton has continued to develop its youth.

Tea Tree Gully could be the team to watch this season, with the arrival of former Crow Luke Brown remaining the biggest signing of the competition so far, while Goodwood will also be on the charge after losing a 2022 prelim to PAOC.

DIVISION TWO

Clubs: Adelaide Uni, Athelstone, Edwardstown, Golden Grove, Henley, North Haven, PHOS Camden, Payneham Norwood Union, Rostrevor OC, Salisbury North

Promoted: Edwardstown, Golden Grove

Relegated: Unley Mercedes Jets, Gaza

Division two should be as competitive as ever in season 2023, with a number of clubs strengthening in the pre-season.

Newly-promoted Edwardstown has added West Adelaide champion midfielder Logan Hill to its line-up which already boasts star players Josh Schiller and Aaron Anderson, while Golden Grove has retained its undefeated 2022 squad and North Haven has welcomed former AFL forward Lindsay Thomas.

Athelstone has welcomed former junior player Mitch Grigg back to the club after his premiership season with Lobethal in the Hills Football League, and relegated division one clubs PNU and Rostrevor OC should also pose a huge threat to other contending sides.

DIVISION THREE

Clubs: Flinders Park, Gaza, Hope Valley, Modbury, Pembroke OS, SMOSH West Lakes, Scotch OC, Seaton Ramblers, Unley Mercdes Jets, Westminster OS

Promoted: Hope Valley, Pembroke OS

Relegated: CBC OC, Morphettville Park

Pembroke Old Scholars will be the early favourite for the division three flag this season after adding former SANFL stars Kristian Roocke and Anthony Wilson to an already stacked squad.

The Kings should face challenges from a number of teams however, including 2022 finals sides Modbury and Flinders Park.

Hope Valley will also be a team to watch after adding Paul Puopolo to a forwardline led by Daniel Nobes.

DIVISION FOUR

Clubs: CBC OC, Hectorville, Kenilworth, Lockleys, Mitcham, Morphettville Park, Plympton, Pooraka, Portland, Walkerville

Promoted: Hectorville, Lockleys

Relegated: Pulteney, Woodville South

While 2022 powers Pembroke OS and Hope Valley leave the division for division five, division four will still host a number of strong clubs including division five premier Lockleys and top two finisher Plympton.

The Bulldogs, led by ex-SANFL gun Stuart Taverner and captain Brodie McLeod, should be ready to make amends for last season after losing their preliminary final to Hope Valley in a major upset.

DIVISION FIVE

Clubs: Blackfriars OS, Colonel Light Gardens, Eastern Park, Elizabeth, Gepps Cross, Kilburn, Pulteney, Trinity OS, West Croydon, Woodville South

Promoted: Trinity OS, West Croydon

Relegated: Salisbury, St Pauls OS

Division five should experience an intriguing 2023, with Trinity OS – undefeated in 2022 – and West Croydon both coming up from division five.

Salisbury and St Pauls OS will be raring to go after disappointing 2022 seasons, while Gepps Cross could be the team to beat after missing promotion by just three points last year.

DIVISION SIX

Clubs: Adelaide Lutheran, Brahma Lodge, Central United, Fitzroy, Greenacres, Marion, Rosewater, Salisbury, Smithfield, St Paul’s OS

Promoted: Adelaide Lutheran, Greenacres, Smithfield (new)

Relegated: Ingle Farm, Para Hills

Division six will be a 10-team competition in season 2023 as Smithfield makes its long-awaited return after two seasons on the sidelines.

The Panthers have recovered after losing player and volunteer numbers throughout the Covid period, and will be joined in the division by Greenacres – coming off of an undefeated division seven season – and Adelaide Lutheran.

Salisbury and St Pauls OS drop down to the division after finishing at the bottom of division five in 2022.

DIVISION SEVEN

Clubs: Flinders Uni, Hackhgam, Houghton Districts, Ingle Farm, Mawson Lakes, Mitchell Park, O’Sullivan Beach Lonsdale, Para Hills

In: Ingle Farm, Para Hills

Ingle Farm and Para Hills will compete in the bottom division this year after struggling during their 2022 division six campaigns.

The clubs will have their work cut out for them in what should be a competitive division, with sides like Houghton Districts and Flinders Uni eager to make amends after missing the grand final last season.
