Welcome to ‘New Recruits’ – a wrap of all the major player moves in local SA footy this pre-season.
Each week leading into season 2023 The Messenger will wrap the big movements across the state, including all country and suburban competitions.
We have seen more big moves recently, with veteran local names and a former SANFL gun joining new clubs.

ADELAIDE FOOTY LEAGUE

A number of big names have switched clubs in the Adelaide Footy League, including promising Norwood prospect Sam Hargreaves and popular Brighton Bombers man Shane Harvey.
Harvey – who played over 100 A Grade games for the Bombers and also won a premiership in 2017 – marks a major move for division six side Marion.
The talented midfielder played at the club during his junior years and has returned for season 2023.
22-year-old Norwood midfielder Sam Hargreaves has joined Scotch OC after a solid season with the Redlegs reserves, averaging 15 disposals a game, while the versatile Marcus Roberts will play for SPOC in division one after time with Broadbeach in the Queensland AFL.

Wes Weeks has returned to his hometown club after a stint with the Sturt U18s and time playing in Queensland.
A tall key forward who can finish consistently in front of goal, Weeks will provide a big presence up front for the Devils this HFL season.

Ben Legoe headlines a busy period for Robe in the Mid South Eastern Football League, the star midfielder leaving Scotch OC and the Adelaide Footy League to join the Roosters.
He tallied six best player performances in his 16 appearances for Scotch OC last season.

Alby Price (Paskeville to Broughton Mundoora)
Ben Price (Bute to Broughton Mundoora)
Alby and Ben Price have joined Broughton Mundoora in the NAFL after time at Paskeville and Bute respectively.
Ben, who captained Bute, is coming off of a strong 2022 season through the middle, while Alby also experienced a standout year, finishing runner-up in Paskeville’s best and fairest.

Clayton Milera (South Augusta to Proprietary/Risdon)
Ian Milera (Portland to Proprietary/Risdon)
Former Glenelg star Ian Milera highlights the local footy moves of the past month, joining Proprietary/Risdon after a starring season with Portland in the Adelaide Footy League.
A quick and dangerous forward who can also play through the middle, Milera booted over 40 goals for Portland in 2022 and was named among his side’s best six times.
He will join Clayton Milera at the club, who kicked 41 goals for South Augusta last season, a club which he won multiple SGFL premierships with.
