Here are The Messenger’s reports from all the round seven matches.
DIVISION TWO
Four games have been decided by less than 10 points in a wild weekend of division two action – headlined by a one-point nailbiter.
It was a shootout at Camden Oval as Broadview needed to muster all its grit to hold on in a thriller and beat PHOS Camden 16.6 (102) to 15.11 (101).
The Tigers held a 15-point lead going into the final term, before standing firm against an admirable fightback from the Phantoms.
PHOS Camden coach Damian Minervini said he was proud of his side in a game which could have gone either way.
“Broadview probably looked a bit cleaner with the ball and took their opportunities better than we did in the first half,” Minervini said.
“We had a look at things at half-time and backed ourselves in.
“Just couldn’t get the job done in the end and we missed a couple of goals as well … but to their credit, Broadview was just a bit too strong in the end.”
The Phantoms hit the front late in the last quarter when Henry Papatolis goaled from a long-range set shot.
But the Tigers were up to the task and skipper Jay O’Leary stood up when it mattered to kick the winner for his side in the dying minutes.
It was a second-straight loss for PHOS – dropping it from second to third spot on the ladder – while Broadview moved up to fourth.
Minervini said the Phantoms needed to respond this week.
“We always knew we had a tough bunch of three games with Henley, Broadview and Glenunga all in a row.
“Glenunga look like they’re incredibly hard to beat so we’ll have a task in front of us.
“You’d like to think every win they get, they’re one closer to a loss and hopefully it’s this week.”
The tight clash was just one of a string of close contests in division two.
At Webb Oval, the Rams extended their undefeated streak to seven games by edging out an inaccurate Old Ignatians in a three-point win.
Glenunga was challenged by the visitors all day managed to prevail 11.6 (72) to 9.15 (69).

The Hawks held on to win 11.11 (77) to 10.12 (72) after maintaining a slight advantage over the Raggies almost all day.
Henley’s 18-point defeat of Seaton Ramblers was the division’s biggest margin on Saturday.
