The local music scene is alive and kicking in Aldinga.

That is according to Pepper Tree owners Mark and Tanya Crago, who have been supporting local musicians since their doors opened in 2015.

“We’re known for our entertainment among the locals,” Ms Crago, 49, says.

“We love what we do and we’ve met so many music lovers and local talent along the way.”

Just some of the artists to grace the Pepper Tree stage include motown, soul and blues band Arthur’s Blue Suit, classic rock band The Villains and punk/pop band The Packets.

Adding to the live music venue’s offering, Jessica Liebich – who won reality television show My Kitchen Rules in 2014 – has taken over the kitchen, providing diners with restaurant-quality eats using South Australian produce.

“We are all about supporting local ... it’s what brings the community together,” Ms Crago says.

“Out of all the states, South Australia is known as the music state and we are proud to be supporting local artists.”

Pepper Tree has been nominated in the inaugural 2019 Onkaparinga Business Awards, supported by The Messenger and Onkaparinga Council.

Ms Crago says the awards are exactly what the southern suburbs need.

“It’s nice to be recognised and it shows businesses that they are on the right track and people are happy with what they’re doing,” she says.

Voting is now open across 14 categories including best coffee, best tourism experience, best start-up business and the Hall of Fame, which recognises a business that has served the Onkaparinga community for more than 25 years.

Winners will be announced on Thursday, November 28.
