Stage One of retirement village at Flagstaff Hill Golf Club gets green light

A plan for Stage One of the $40 million retirement village at Flagstaff Hill Golf Club has been given the go-ahead by Onkaparinga Council.

A plan for a $40 million retirement village at Flagstaff Hill Golf Club has been given the go-ahead by Onkaparinga Council.

Living Choice wants to build the first integrated golf course and retirement village in SA along Memford Way.

It will consist of 162 new homes — with 42 villas and 120 apartments — on land sold by Flagstaff Hill Golf Club in August 2017.

The council has approved the first stage of the development — the villas.

The second stage of the development — yet to be lodged with Onkaparinga Council — consists of a new club house for the golf club, apartments above the club house and four other apartment buildings overlooking the course.

The village’s features will include function spaces, a pool and a hair salon — all open to the public.

Living Choice general manager Jason Sack said earthworks for the villas would begin early in 2019 so that the first residents could be living there by next Christmas. The retirement village would have “a hugely positive impact” on the local community, including the 750 members of the golf club.

“(It will) not only provide much-needed employment during the construction phase and thereafter but afford golf club members and local retirees with the opportunity to live in a modern, safe, secure community,” Mr Sack said.

“Living Choice is working with the club committee to elevate Flagstaff Hill Golf Club to the finest Tier 2 club in SA and we are working with a golf course architect to significantly upgrade the course.”
