Sex offending charges have been dropped against a staff member at a school in Adelaide’s south following his arrest in July.
Parents of students at Willunga Waldorf School in Adelaide’s south were sent a letter in July informing them a staff member was arrested and charged with serious sex offending on July 25.
At the time, police were going to allege that the victim was under the age of 18.
Police have since confirmed they have dropped the charges against the southern suburbs man.
“At this time the charge has been discontinued,” a spokesman said.
“However, the investigation remains open pending further evidence.”
Principal of Willunga Waldorf School, Jodie Thomas told The Advertiser on Thursday that the staff member is no longer employed at the school.
In the letter addressed to families in July, Ms Thomas told parents she would inform parents as to the progress of prosecution.
“It is with regret that I notify you that a staff member has been arrested by police and charged with unlawful sexual intercourse,” she wrote.
“As the police are investigating this matter, I am unable to make further comment. I will inform you of the progress of the prosecution as soon as I am in a position to do so.
“It is important to note that these allegations are yet to be proven in a court of law and the individual is entitled to the presumption of innocence until such time as the allegations are proven.”
