Golden Grove teacher David Martin in court charged with indecent assault of teenage girl

A Golden Grove teacher has faced court for the first time over charges of the indecent assault of a teenage girl.

A Golden Grove teacher has faced court for the first time more than a month after he was arrested and charged with the aggravated indecent assault of a teenage girl.

David Martin, 63, appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday to face the charge.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The charges were dropped by the prosecution on December 6, 2023.

The case was adjourned with Mr Martin, who is still on bail, expected to front the Adelaide Magistrates Court in October.

Mr Martin was arrested on May 27 over the incident, which allegedly occurred earlier that month.

The incident involved a teenage girl who was known to the man, police said at the time of his arrest.

The Golden Grove High School community was made aware of the incident at the end of May after principal Peter Kuss sent out a letter informing parents of students that a teacher had been arrested and charged.

“The teacher was directed away from the workplace and has bail conditions that prevent them from engaging in any child related work,” Mr Kuss wrote in the letter.

“I will keep you informed of the progress of the prosecution and provide you with more information when it becomes available.

“The information available to the school suggests there is no need for concern for any other children at the school.”
