A man accused of attempted murder has had his charge withdrawn, after police prosecution were satisfied of his guilty pleas for his remaining charges.
Raymond Beatty, appeared via video link from the Adelaide Magistrate Court on Thursday, after stabbing a man and stealing his car — sparking a car crash and dramatic chase through O’Sullivan Beach and Lonsdale in August of 2022.
The court heard Beatty would be pleading guilty to a number of charges including dishonestly dealing with property without consent and causing serious harm with intent.
Mr Beatty was facing one count of attempted murder and aggravated due care but they were formally withdrawn.
Police originally alleged on August 29, Beatty stabbed a member of the public outside of the Friendly Grocer on Galloway Rd at O’Sullivan Beach before stealing the victim’s silver Ford Mondeo sedan and drove off.
The stolen car was then involved in a nearby crash on O’Sullivan Beach Rd at Lonsdale about five minutes later – with the aftermath captured on CCTV.
Mr Beatty then allegedly smashed into a blue Mazda before fleeing on foot. No-one was injured.
Mr Beatty’s guilty pleas to the remaining 11 counts were recorded.
He will face court again later this year for sentencing.
