EDITOR'S NOTE - All charges were dropped in April 2024.

A man has denied allegedly bashing and choking his then partner, stemming from a background of what a court heard were degrading and violent acts.

Alleged domestic abuser, Kai Maxwell Fallows, 34, pleaded not guilty to choking and causing harm with intent in the Adelaide Magistrates Court last week.

The court previously heard Mr Fallow’s ex-partner, Natasha Bridgland – who granted the Advertiser permission to name her – was allegedly violently assaulted by him in September.

“Immediately after the complainant woke up, she alleges she was punched five or six times,” the prosecutor said during an earlier bail application.

The court heard Mr Fallows allegedly stood on Ms Bridgland’s forearm – which was across her neck on another occasion.

The prosecutor said there was a history of alleged abuse, including a currently uncharged “gruesome” incident in November 2021.

The court heard Mr Fallows accused Ms Bridgland of cheating on him, before binding her to a chair and using a number of sex tools on her.

Ms Bridgland was allegedly defecated and urinated on by Mr Fallows, as well as being gagged with a rag.

After two previous unsuccessful bids, Mr Fallows was released on home detention bail in January, after a number of his charges were withdrawn and due to his limited criminal history.

During the bail review, Sean Nottle, for Mr Fallows, told the court a housemate living with the couple at the time of the alleged offending contradicted Ms Bridgland’s statement.

The court heard Mr Fallows “vehemently contested” the allegations and had work at a trucking company available to him.

Last week, Chief Magistrate Judge Mary-Louise Hribal committed Mr Fallows, of Myponga, to the District Court for arraignment in June.
